We composed a list of the best classical music album covers of all time.
Some of them are so crazy! What were they thinking!?
These may not be the top 100 classical music albums but they probably have the greatest classical music album covers you will ever see!
This far we’ve found 66 funny album covers. If you know of one that should be added to the list, let us know in the comments below.
Special Bonus:
4 Pop Album Covers that You Won’t Believe. (Located at the end of this list)
But, without further ado, here are the…
66 Best Classical Music Album Covers of all Time
Music for Your Plants
Who wouldn’t want to play some awesome classical music for their plants? Studies show that serenading your plants with music helps them grow faster, right?
You can find a copy of the Music For Your Plants Album in Vinyl on eBay for as low as $19.99. Amazon has it for $29.99.
Saturday Night Fiedler
It’s hard to imagine a less likely cover. Based on the album cover image you would think this was a disco record, not a classical music CD.
You can purchase a physical CD copy from Amazon for less than $13 – and it includes the .mp3 files too!
Ebay has a vinyl LP copy of Saturday Night Fielder for $14 bucks including shipping!
OS4 – Easy to Handel
OS4 stands for Opera Swing Quartet. This is one of my favorite funny classical music album covers because the artwork really matches the play on words they used for the title.
The physical audio CD is available on Amazon for about 20 dollars which seems a little pricey but how else are you going to show your friends the rad new addition to your totally rad cd collection dude!
As of April 2020 we can’t find a single Vinyl copy of this album. If you know of somewhere that is selling one, let us know and we’ll get it added.
Buddy Collette’s Swinging Shepards
In this classical music medley Bud Shank, Paul Horn, and Harry Klee help you stay motivated when counting your sheep.
Amazon has it in CD format for under $18. Better hurry and pick this one up while supplies last.
Audiofile USA has a Vinyl copy available for $20.
The Fabulous Guitar
The album cover for The Fabulous Guitar just might be the creepiest one on this list. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
If you want to buy this classic album it will be difficult to find. We did locate a vinyl LP copy of The Fabulous Guitar on Amazon but it has a different cover.
Maurice Steger – Vivaldi Concerti per Flaute
Wow. This guy must really likes his recorders. Thank goodness those are recorders and not something else (like flutes!). Not sure why they are flying at him like that, but it’s what got him on this list of the best classical music album covers of all time.
You can find this in audio CD format on Amazon for $15.00 and it’s well worth it. I mean come on, this is the awesome recorder solo that you have been waiting to hear since the 3rd grade.
A Tenors Christmas
It’s not even close to that magical time of year but one look at this album cover and you will want to listen to Domingo, Pavarotti, and Carreras singing your favorite carols.
Buy this great album now before the Christmas rush! You can find it on Amazon.
Music to Be Murdered by
Leave it to ole’ Alfred Hitchcock to release such a morbid album cover. The intro is out of this world. It is narrated by Hitchcock himself. I won’t give it all away but he finishes with the words, “Lean back and enjoy yourself… until the coroner comes.”
A vinyl LP copy of Music to be Murdered by can be yours for only $15.95 from TCM or you can buy it in audio CD format on Amazon for a whopping $40!
I would definitely recommend going with the vinyl album cover myself.
Listening to classical music on an actual vinyl record is such an amazing experience. If you haven’t tried a record player, I highly recommend you give it a shot.
Did you know that you can buy a record player online for as little as $42 on Amazon.
Of course that’s just the tip of the iceberg, check out the turntables, record players, and phonographs you wish you owned online sometime – it will blow you away.
All the Lonely People
This must be the perfect album for anyone who is lonely and loves that sweet, sweet trombone. Christian Lindberg really goes all out for this one. You can tell how excited he is just by looking at the album cover.
All The Lonely People is a pretty tough album to find. After scouring the web I found it at Arkiv Music for less than $20.
Anna Moffo Sings Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini & Verdi
What could be more appetizing that a little Opera with your spaghetti dinner?
You can find this Anna Moffo record for sale on Amazon in vinyl LP format for less than 10 bucks!
Bach Brandenburg Concertos | Rinaldo Alessandrini
If life has you feeling like a deer in the headlights this album is for you. Check out some of Rinaldo Alessandrini’s Bach recordings while easing yourself back away from those headlights!
Pick up this awesome 2-CD set for just over $13 on Amazon.
Bachbusters
Ok, so this is definitely one of my favorite titles on the list of the best classical music album covers of all time. Plus who can resist a picture of Bach ripping it up on an electronic keyboard guitar thing.
Add this awesome classical music album to your collection for under $11. Now that’s a deal that you just can’t beat. For 11 bucks who wouldn’t want to own this CD?
Do You Have a CD Player?
It has come to our attention that a lot of these classical music albums are only available in CD format.
The problem is that many people today don’t own a CD player!
Did you know that now-a-days you can buy a new CD player online for only $15?! Crazy right?
Check out our list of the best CD players you can buy on Amazon for under $50.
Beethoven – Octet For Two Oboes/Two Clarinets/Two French Horns And Two Bassoon In E Flat Major; Quintet For Oboe/Three French Horns And Bassoon In E Flat Major; Three Equale For Four Trombones
Holy crap! Do you think they gave this album a long enough name? This classical music recording was originally recorded in the Soviet Union way back in 1973. If you look closely at this classical music album cover you can see in the top right where it states that it was imported from the Soviet Union.
So as far as we can tell this album is not available for sale anywhere! If you know where this can be purchased, let us know and we’ll update the site.
If you want to check out some of Beethoven’s most popular works take a look at this page.
Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 Daniel Barenboim Choral Fantasy
Imagine that it’s 1984 and you are at the local record store browsing titles. We bet you would stop and do a double take if you saw this album cover artwork.
This unfortunately is another album cover that we can’t seem to find for sale anywhere. You can listen to all four tracks on Amazon or Apple music but so much for adding this sweet, sweet album cover to your collection.
Best Known Overtures | The Vienna State Opera Orchestra
Are these actually the best known overtures? We’re not sure. The William Tell Overture is pretty well known but how many of you have heard of La Vie Parisienne before?
Amazon has a vinyl copy of the Best Known Overtures featuring The Vienna State Opera Orchestra for only $6. Better hurry up though because I can’t find any other copies online for sale.
Best of Brahms William Steinberg
This is your brain on dru… er.. ehm.. Brahms. Ya that’s the phrase right? This is your brain on Brahms! Just looking at this album cover makes us hungry. Is it possible that Brahms gives you the munchies?
You won’t find this album on Amazon or most place but I did find a few people selling this album in vinyl on CDandLP.com. They have all sorts of great albums for sale by independent collectors. You can grab the Best of Brahms for only about $6.
Bon Bons Patrick Sheridan and Rich Ridenour
Ready to listen to some awesome Tuba and Piano musicians while enjoying your favorite chocolate cherry candy treat?
We found a CD copy of this splendid album for sale on Bonanza.com but who knows if you can trust the independent sellers on there. Does anyone have any experience buying anything from Bonanza?
Born for Horn – Zoltan Varga
Hmm… That sure is an interesting name? How about some not-so-subliminal messaging. It does look like he really knows his way around a horn!
The only place that I can find online that sells the Born for Horn album is Arkiv Music. They actually have a lot of really great classical music at stellar prices. If you are a fan of classical music Arkiv could be an excellent resource.
Cardio Classics – Orchestral Workout!
Ready to pump some iron! Who would have ever thought that there would be a classical music album created just for the gym-rat junkies of the world. Get your workout fired up with these cardio classics.
You can buy Cardio Classics and it’s follow up album on Amazon.
Carl Orff Carmina Burana
This probably takes the cake for the most risqué album cover on this list. I’m just going to assume they are out for a simple swim and that’s all.
So you can find a whole slew of Car Orff Carmina Burana albums out there but if you want the actual album cover shown above it looks like Amazon is your only choice.
Vikingur Olafsson Debussy – Rameau
This album cover doesn’t imply anything inappropriate or have any hidden innuendos. We just thought that it was a really cool classical music album cover so we decided to add it to this list.
Arkiv Music has several copies of this album available. They even have it in both CD and vinyl LP format.
Derek Bell Plays With Himself
Ok, we just can’t ignore how dirty this title sounds! Obviously it is an album of Derek Bell paying several instruments all alone but if you just read the title out of context it would leave you to believe something else was afoot.
If you want to listen to Derek Bell Plays With Himself you are going to have to purchase the CD from Amazon.
Hans Swarowsky Die Walkure Richard Wagner
Keeping in tune with the somewhat controversial and scantily clad theme we present to you the album cover for Die Walkure performed by Hans Swarowsky and the Suddeutsche Philharmonie.
Finding this exact album artwork was quite difficult. We were able to find it on Amazon as a part of a 5 disc box set.
Diversions The Fairer Sax
Who doesn’t love a great play on words. Diversions really hit a home run with this alum title. We guess you could say the women on the cover are very “Saxy”.
Buy the audio CD for less than $19 on Amazon today and be listening to this great record tomorrow.
Earl Wild and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Rachmaninov
Take one look at this classical music album cover and guess what this album is supposed to set the mood for.
A small anticdote… I had the pleasure of seeing Rachmaninov performed at the Sydney Opera House while I was on vacation in Australia. If you ever get the change to visit Sydney do not miss the Sydney Opera House.
Our good friends over at Arkiv has the 2-disc set available for sale today on their website.
Eddie Mack Live at the Open Face Sandwich Club
Ok, so with a name like Eddie Mack, this is exactly the type of album artwork that we would expect. This was recorded well before our time but the name of the venue where this album was recorded leaves us to believe that it was something more than just an innocent place to buy a sandwich.
Javier Weintraub Eugene Ysaye Furias Sies Sonata Para Violin Opus 27
Not sure what kind of monster is featured on this album cover. The name is Latin according to Google Translate it means o’ercame. What do you think, does the music on this album justify the cover? Hard to imagine a violin sonata being equated with this artwork. But we love it!
Steven Mead Euphonium Magic Vol. 3 Earth Voices
Take a ride on the wild side. And by wild side we mean a giant horn! Even the name without the album artwork would qualify this piece of history for inclusion on the list of the best classical music albums of all time.
Felix Mendelssohn Concerto for Violin and Piano Gidon Kremer & Martha Argerich Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
Ok so, bear with us, on some of these albums we just don’t know what to put for the title. But come on, give us a break, just look at how many names are on this classical music album.
Franz Lehar The Merry Widow and Emmerich Kalman Countess Maritza
Dressed in black and sitting on a coffin drinking wine. Nothing screams merry widow more than the scene on this great album cover.
Fifteen bucks will buy you this one in Vinyl from eBay.
Fred Katz and His Music
Perhaps this title should read: Fred Katz and His Music, and His Girlfriend, and His Cello, and a beach. We’re not sure whose job it is to come up with the creative ideas that make it onto the albums covers on this list – but – we salute you.
Gustav Holst The Planets with Sir Adrian Boult
Hooray for our heros, Gustav Holst and Adrian Boult. Without their bravery we would have lost The Plants to the evil forces in your mind. We’re starting to see a theme here, incredible fantasies and incredibly hot babes.
Julian Lloyd-Webber Travels with my Cello
No list of funny classical music album covers would be complete with out the classic, Travels with my Cello. If you’re going to travel, make sure you do it with your cello.
Johannes Brahms Violin Concerto and Double Concerto featuring Gidon Kremer, Mischa Malsky, Wiener Philharmoniker, and Bernstein
Joe Exotic is that you? Apparently Johannes Brahms was into big cats and we never even knew it. I wonder if he would have thought Carol Baskin killed her husband?
Joyce
’nuff said.
J.S. Bach Sonatas for Cello and Piano performed by Bernard Green House Cello, and Anthony Malcas Piano.
Not sure what this album artwork is trying to suggest. Something to do with wine and lobotomies? Hopefully nothing that sinister! Who doesn’t like to enjoy a nice glass of red wine when winding down to a little Bach?
Julian Bream Plays Bach
Another great play on words. If you only looked at this classical music album cover you would think that it was a recording of a tennis match between Julian Bream and Bach.
Karajan Performs Beethoven Symphonies Now. 5, 6 & 9 with the Berliner Philarmoniker
We don’t know this Karajan fella but based on this album cover he seems like a pretty rad dude to chill with. Everybody wants to be friends with someone who owns a private jet!
Karajan Conducts Greig & Sibelius with Peer Gynt, Finlandia and the Berliner Philharmoniker
Two in a row and yes we know it. This Karajan fellow not only has a sweet private jet, it looks like he also has a fancy sailboat. Who knew that being a conductor paid so well.
Khachaturian
Constantine Orbilian conducts Ode of Joy, Music from Sportacus, and Ode in Memory of Lenin with the Philharmonia of Russia, Marino Domoskhenko and the Spiritual Revival Choir at Russia.
(Ya, I totally thought it was Frankenstein at first too…)
Spartacus – Khatchaturian conducts fragments from the ballet with Alexandre Gauk and the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra of the All Union Radio
Forgive our lack of classical music knowledge but it appears that this classical music album and the one above are both by Khatchaturian. We are guessing at this point that he is a conductor but please fill us in with the correct answer in the comments so we can get this updated.
Liszt – A Faust Symphony conducted by Leonard Bernstein featuring Charles Bressler, the Choral Art Society, and the New York Philharmonic
It’s a pretty crazy looking album cover, Bernstein looks so spooky in that pic. Spookyness aside, we bet this is a really good classical music album to listen to, it has world renown performers.
Michael Daugherty Metropolis Symphony with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and David Zinman
Wonder if you will catch a glimpse of Super man at the Metropolis Symphony. Maybe Michael Daugherty was also Clark Kent. Ssshh don’t tell anyone.
Michael Tilson Thomas Alma Brasileira Music for Villa Lobos with the New World Symphony and Renee Fleming
Michael Tilson Thomas takes the cake for being the coolest looking conductor on our list of the best classical music album covers. Check him out just chilling in the jungle with a giant parrot. He looks as cool as a cucumber.
Bach Nos. 2, 4 & 5 by Murray Perahia
Murray Perahia sure looks out of place on this album cover. He appears to be in a slum of some sort, not exactly the kind of place that you expect to find a world class performer.
Ockeghem Masses – Beauty Farm
Looking at the album artwork and reading the title would lead you to believe that this was a some techno music destined to be played at Burning Man, not a classical music piece – chamber music to be exact.
Operatic Arias (Verdi – Rossini – Bellini – Gounod) with Hao Jiang Tian on Bass, the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and Alexander Rahbari
Another long name here but all you really need to know is that Hao Jian Tian and his friendly four-legged companion are ready to serenade you with with the finest Verdi, Rossini, Bellini and Gounod.
Paganini Caprices for Solo Violin with Tanja Becker-Bender
Admit it. The person with the violin kinda looks like Brad Pitt and the woman in the red dress kinda looks like Angelina Jolie.
Andrzej Panufnik and David Atherton in Sinfonia Di Sfere and Sinfonia Mistica with the London Symphony Orchestra
Horrible name but probably a great classical music album, the London Symphony Orchestra rarely disappoints. Not sure what kind of vibe the artwork was trying to convey… post apocalyptic perhaps?
Ravel – L’Enfant Et Les Sortileges Orchestra National de la R.T.F and Lorin Maazel
Just looking at this album cover will un-Ravel your mind! According to Google Translate L’Enfant Et Les Sortileges is French and it translates to mean, “the child and the spell”.
Raymond Devos au Theatre des Varietes
Kenny Chesney better watch out. I bet that there are some classical music lovers that think Raymond Devos’ tractor is sexy!
Red Priest – Handel in the Wind
Once again we have another lovely play on words. Here Red Priest pays homage to the Elton John classic, Candle in the Wind. Also I believe that they are all dressed up as Handel, and because they are in a convertible, I guess you could say they are Handel in the wind.
Redskin Romp by Charlie Barnet and his Orchestra
Ok so this one is at least borderline offensive but we decided that it’s offensiveness warranted it’s inclusion on the list of the funniest classical music album covers of all time.
Salome Nilsson, Stolze, and Wachter with the Vienna Philharmonic
Salome. Creepy. We don’t know what else to say about this one.
Scriabin Preparation for The Final Mystery as Realised by Alexander Nemtin by Vladimir Ashkenazy
Here is another crazy futuristic classical music album cover that we would have guess was some sort of rave music. But, we would be wrong. It is actually a really well written piece of art.
Semplice From Beautiful Beginnings
Let’s be honest. This kid was picked on big time. We don’t feel good about it, but it’s the honest to god truth. On the bright side, betcha can’t play the clarinet nearly as well.
Simon Rattle | The Jazz Album with the London Sinfonietta
Nope, that’s not Richard Simmons but he and Simon Rattle sure do look similar. Can you imagine a weightloss dance program titled, Sweatin’ to the Jazz?
Sinfonien Nr.1 C-dur, Nr.8 F-dur – Symphonies No.1 in C major, No.8 in F major
Here is another classical music album in which we just aren’t sure what the exact title is or who is performing. Please help us out by letting us know the the correct info.
Strauss – Karajan Die Grossen Tondichtungen/The Great Tone Poems with the Berliner Philharmoniker
You will notice the name Karajan here again. Not sure if it is the same guy with the sailboat and private jet but if so he sure knows how to make an album cover.
Svetlana Gruebbersolvik – My Lips are for Blowing
My lips are for blowing. We’re not gonna touch that one. Let your imagination run wild, and then enjoy some wonderful recorder music.
Switched-On Bach
Not sure why but this cover reminds us of the opening scene to the first Back to the Future. You know where Marty flips on all of the amps and blows up the speakers. That how we envision you enjoying the music of Switched-On Bach.
The Cunning Little Vixen with Simon Rattle
Simon, why are you hanging out with the cunning little vixen? You should know better.
Stravinsky The Rite of Spring Le Sacre Du Printemps with David Atamian on Piano
The right of spring is actually a great piece of music. The work of Stravinsky is all worth a listen. Not sure why they went with this hell and brim-fire album artwork but it got Dickran Atamian on the list.
Walter Carlos and The Well-Tempered Synthesizer
If you’re gonna get a synthesizer make sure you choose one that is well-tempered.
Trombone Odyssey – 20th Century Landmarks for Trombone and Orchestra with Christian Lindberg on Trombone and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Leif Segerstam
This is the second time that Christian Lindberg made the list of the best classical music album covers of all time. Just like the first time he is shown sporting his favorite trombone.
Widmann Viola Concerto with Antoine Tamestit and Daniel Harding
Music to suck your blood by. Violin concerto’s seem to have some of the darkest themed album covers out there.
We hope that you have enjoyed this list of the best classical music album covers. This list was put together by JCan & Co. We are a small business marketing company that loves to create content that people actually enjoy reading. If you would like to work with us please visit our homepage.
